I could play along if you like You might have to PM me some informed responses to post though
Re: World Cup 2010
David Beckham is out of the World Cup. Some say it's a massive blow for Englands chances.....
What do you think?

Re: World Cup 2010
Rooney is DA MAN!!!!
But who will provide the crosses for those bullet headers which he has become so darn good at?
Walcott Can't cross......
Neither can Wright-Phillips really.....
Lennon isn't great.......
Millner is so so......
But I agree. I don't think it will hurt England's chances not to have Becks...... Think they'll miss the Freekicks though, but if he could pass some knowledge on that would be a great help.....

Re: World Cup 2010
I'm hopeful too. The only thing I wish is that we had an English manager. I think Fabio is Fab and I have nothing against him, but I really think that every international team should be composed of people from that nation, from top to bottom....... I just think I would be prouder for England to win the world cup if everything about the team was English.......

Re: World Cup 2010
That's a bit harsh After he's done a great job, sack him for an Englishman
I agree though. There isn't an English manager really up to the job, but then that could be because all the top jobs in the league have gone to non english managers........

Re: World Cup 2010
Well, Last nights warm up was a little disappointing...... Yeah, we won 3-1 but the performance was a little shocking I'm having serious doubts about Ledley King who seemed to be exposed time & again, Milner seemed to drift in & out of the game, I didn't even notice Carrick was playing until he was replaced, Gerrard seems to have turned into a bit of a pansy! Rooney & Defoe can't play together...... In short, It's not looking promising.
However, (Especially for YellowTeddyBear) I take back almost everything I said about Glenn Johnson! What a scorching goal! He roamed forward a lot but the boy still seems to have a bit of trouble defending...... Not good as he's supposed to be a defender........
Wouldn't of minded seeing a little more of Adam Johnson though. The game against Japan had better be better than last night! Oh, and the Wembley Turf still doesn't look great, but a good workman never blames his tools........

Re: World Cup 2010
Well, bit of a shock yet not really a shock at the same time with the Final England World Cup Squad. No Bent? second highest English goal scorer yet he's not on the plane..... but Heskey is... No Walcott, but no real surprise there. Full run down of selected squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers = David James(Portsmouth), Robert Green(West Ham), Joe Hart(Manchester City)
Defenders = Ashley Cole (Chelsea), John Terry(Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand(Manchester United), Glenn Johnson(Liverpool), Jamie Carragher(Liverpool), Ledley King(Tottenham), Matthew Upson(West Ham), Stephen Warnock(Aston Villa)
Midfielders = Gareth Barry(Manchester City), Shaun Wright-Phillips(Manchester City), Joe Cole(Chelsea), Frank Lampard(Chelsea), Michael Carrick(Manchester United), Steven Gerrard(Liverpool), James Milner(Aston Villa), Aaron Lennon(Tottenham)
Forwards = Peter Crouch(Tottenham), Jermaine Defoe(Tottenham), Emile Heskey(Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney(Manchester United)

Re: World Cup 2010
Well, the boys didn't get off to a great start yesterday. A World Class keeper should be expected to hold onto those kinds of things. West Ham were thinking they would make a mint on Green after the world cup, not so sure now though. He did make a truly world class save but that was offset by his earlier error. Either way, the lads should've put this one to bed earlier. Great second half display where they did everything but still didn't manage to score.
Let's hope the next games go better, though I expect them to top the group.

Re: World Cup 2010
Fantastic, I just hope this game isn't quite as horrifically dull as the last two. I don't know enough to know what was missing but you didn't need to be an expert to see how rubbish we've been playing. With all those world class players in our team you'd have thought we'd be romping through the early stages
Re: World Cup 2010
Actually, the game kicks off at 15:00
But I believe the problem to 2 fold:
Fold 1) Playing players out of position. Never a wise idea. Although in theory a footballer should be able to play anywhere on the pitch, in reality they have been selected for the national team because of their performances in certain positions for their clubs. I say play them in those positions for their country.
Fold 2) Pressure. The expectation is extreme! Simply, I can't see England winning the world cup. The underdog is always in the better position, they can play without fear because they are expected to lose so they have nothing to lose. England need to go out there today & simply enjoy it. Do that & they'll win for sure.

Re: World Cup 2010
Sound logic there dude.
Wasn't that a bit more like it? I enjoyed that a lot more, felt quite tense though, still not a convincing enough win for my liking.

Well, a bit. Not convincing at all, but a win is a win

Re: World Cup 2010
Are we playing Germany in the next round? It would be a shame to go out so quickly
Re: World Cup 2010
Yep, got the Germans on Saturday. Englands record against Germany is actually better than most people think. It won't be easy but I expect a good game which England are more than capable of winning.
NR Prediction: England 2-1 Germany (After Extra Time)
