Yes but I don’t think there’s much that the individual can do about the real issue. Mentality needs to change from above before and real change can be seen. Governments need to stop thinking with their pockets and start thinking with the future of the planet at the forefront of their minds.

The environment of this planet will change regardless of what we do. It was changing long before we mere humans existed & will continue to change long after we have gone. Just ask the Insects who went from the size of big cats to their current size due to changes in the atmosphere. Or the cold blooded animals who died out because of changes in the global temperature.

We have no say & nothing we do will change the facts. What's the point in saving the polar ice caps when you consider that this planet once didn't have any. Then did..... Then didn't. Then did again & they have been waxing & waning for thousands of years.

Yes, we are here now, but our existence doesn't mean that the natural process of this planet should stop to suit us. The planet is roughly 20% cooler than it was before the last great ice age, meaning that the temperature WILL rise as it's below the levels where it once was.

Ice caps didn't use to exist, so if when they disappear the planet will be almost fully recovered from the last ice age.

Sea levels used to be much higher than they are today......

Even the ozone layer is thought to have only come into play after the last Ice age to help with "repairs" of the planet. I see the changes as the planet going back to what it once was. Climate change WILL happen. It's a natural process of this planet. To think that we have any say in it shows that humans, in general, are simply convinced of their own superiority. The planet won't stay the same just because it suits us this way.

We all know the story about the individual can change things if they all want to Ty but the things is even if you me and NR all agreed to recycle more, use less petrol, turn off lights constantly etc, it still wont make any difference if the world leaders continue to rely on fossil fuels in the way that they have. The very structure of our society is what’s is holding back the change at the moment.

Getting back to what NR is saying though, we are in a constantly changing cycle of climates but we are the first species in the history of the world to recognise that our actions may have a direct affect on the future of our environment to sustain human life. Why shouldn’t we be trying to change things for our benefit?

It would be alright if protecting the planet was the plan, but it's not. The plan is to keep the planet the way it is to ensure OUR survival. To ensure that we do not go the same way as many other life forms who couldn't adapt to the ever changing climate. What if our attempts to stop climate change actually harm the planet? We're sending CO2 into the atmosphere, but the planet was doing that for years with every volcanic eruption & there are far less eruptions today than there was before we were here. Far less than before we started releasing CO2 into the atmosphere. Strikes me that the planet seems smart enough to strike its own balance.......

When this sort of thing is going on in the world Ty, don't you think this is a losing battle?
