Handheld Consoles
I remember all the hype about the PSP when it was going to get released and I got pretty excited by the idea of something with the same spec as the PS2 in the palm of your hand. Throw in the internet access, UMD films, Wifi, Bluetooth, camera add on etc and I thought this would be the ultimate handheld console. What happened?
I got one and for a while I played it all the time (at least till I completed the two GTA titles on it) but then I lost interest when they refused to release any new games/films on it. What is the deal with Sony offering you everything on their platforms then delivering nothing at all?
Look at the DS, I had one for a while but didn’t really get into it, but the advertising for that has been really clever. They have not even tried to aim at the normal target audience for a games console and it’s been a roaring success. It’s more basic, the games are simpler and it’s not as easy to use as the PSP but I think the PSP may now have died whilst the DS continues to thrive.
Does anyone have either of these? What do you think makes a good handheld?

Crash Bandicoot!!! Now you're talking, that is a brilliant game I have the wrath of Khan on my xbox, it's wicked fun.
Re: Handheld Consoles
Takes getting used to and I don't know many girls that are that comfortable with it TBH, maybe it's not a logical set up for you delicate lady types, the controller is a bit chunky.
Re: Handheld Consoles
Only the four online buddies that I have. I know them in real life so I use the time to catch up with them more than anything else.
Re: Handheld Consoles
PSP is simply AWESOME if you have a PS3..........

Re: Handheld Consoles
Well, yeah, but with a PSP you can take them with you.

What, to work? Maybe it's just that it didn't find a place in my lifestyle then, I could not get the point of it at all.
Re: Handheld Consoles
You've no idea how good it is to have one on a long journey. I don't own a car so usually take train when I travel up & down the country which is practically every weekend. Also really good for looking interested & staying awake during meetings!

Re: Handheld Consoles
Oh I could do with it for meetings, I don’t know about you but here we have a policy of calling meetings at the drop of a hat to discuss the slightest little thing for hours on end with no conclusion to be drawn at the end of it. I am notorious for nodding off in such meetings, I just can’t slow my brain down that much without sleeping!
Re: Handheld Consoles
Same happens here. I don't listen to most of what goes on in the meeting. I just wait for the minutes to arrive in my Inbox & quickly skim them before the next meeting about nothing.

Re: Handheld Consoles
I tried taking minutes once and as I could see no actual conclusion to any of the points raised I wrote just that.
Point 1 – Re-branding concept discussed, differing opinions offered. No solid conclusion reached
Etc
That got me a verbal warning!!
Apparently I wasn't taking the meeting seriously enough!

Re: Handheld Consoles
They wouldn't let me take the minutes here. All they would get is something like:
Meeting start, people attended, people spoke, nothing sorted. Meeting ended.

Re: Handheld Consoles
I saw a concept for the new PSP a while ago that looked very cool, have they gone with a new design or are they sticking to old style?
Re: Handheld Consoles
Pretty much the same, just thicker with an intergrated Camera.

Re: Handheld Consoles
Hmmm.... Doesn't look very nice....... Wouldn't want my portable gaming device to double as a phone either. Imagine getting a phonecall just as you're about to slay the final boss!

Re: Handheld Consoles
I would imagine you can turn that function off during vital moments, besides I expect that they wont actually add the phone function in. I'll let you know how it pans out though
