Retro Gaming
What consoles and games did you play in the years gone by? I’ll fill in the blanks with games cause I’ll never remember them all but my console history goes a little bit like this
Sega Master System
Sega Mega Drive
PSone
PS2
PS3
Xbox 360
I also managed to cram in the following handhelds along the way
Sega Game Gear
Nintendo Game Boy
PSP
I just got thinking about this when NR reminded me of the Mega drive classic Toejam and Earl, if you don’t know it then google it and listen to the theme tune it is funky as hell!!

Re: Retro Gaming
Like the Spectrums, Atari 500, Atari ST & Commadore 64!!!
I would start loading "PaperBoy" when I left for school in the morning & it would be loaded by the time I got home! Games for £2.50 a pop! Ah, them were the days....

Re: Retro Gaming
I remember my parents coughing up £50 for a mega drive game once!!! How could they ever have cost that much, I have more processing power in my watch.
Re: Retro Gaming
Remember the price of the PS2's when they came out! They were still upto about £100 2 years ago!!! Even second hand ones were £60 last year!!
And now you can get a 120GB PS3 for £259 with 2 games & 2 controlers. Or Plump for the 250GB version for £269! £120 off if you trade in your old PS3!!!
Have you seen the new x-box 360 yet? Looks tasty!
Back to the retro. Favourite Retro game?

To this day I still hum the theme tune, it's the funkiest track in the world. I'll try and put it up in the music section tonight.

Re: Retro Gaming
Star wars was pretty cool, but again I didn't really take to it that much.
How's about the Resident Evil Series? & what do you think of the Final Fantasy series?

Re: Retro Gaming
there was an asteroids in me local chippie/chinese.....me and me mate were ace at it we could both clock up 100,000 points each in one go mainly by just leaving one asteroid and whizzing up and down the screen killing the thousand point spaceship.....anyways 10,000 points used to an extra man so we would clock up 10 extra men in one go....we clocked the machine many a time back to zero but with extra men going right off the screen it clocked at 999,990 i think but the software back then either couldnt handle 1,000,000 or the makers just didnt think that anyone could possibly do it,anyway when we had been on it for about an hour and a half and had hundreds of extra men we used to sell them to people waiting for their fish and chips or chinese.....it used to be 3 men for 10p to start a new game....we used to put 5p each for the money to start the game then we used to sell the punters 10 men for 10p....they loved it but were never any good so they died quickly.....one bloke once gave us 50p for 50 men and he was still only on there for 10 mins max

Re: Retro Gaming
i was also ace at defender when it came out and could play it ad infinitum..
there was a gang of us that used to hang out in a local burger bar,it had a pacman machine in it and the owner said that anyone getting over a 100,00 points would get a free burger,i got that easy and everytime i got it he put the the target up by 10,000 my highest score if my memory serves me correctly was 220,000 something.......by that time the fruit that came out once or twice a screen would be worth 20,000 points or something if you had a chance to get it as at that time the monsters would be going like usain bolt to your linford christie and it was just a matter of survival by clearing the screen as quickly as possible, when pacman ate a power dot the monsters would be eatable for about 2 seconds and were not worth it you just had to clear the dots and get to the next screen........i did find a flaw though.....if you timed it right if you went through the tunnel at just the right time with monsters either end you could actually go through them without being killed.
