GTA IV
Am I the only one that expected more from this game? I was well excited about a follow up to San Andreas (the ultimate in free world gaming) and I even went as far to book a day off work to play this when I got it. The map that they had created was stunning, the detail was literally breathtaking, I got out of my car after the first bump to examine the detail of the dent in it, I cannot conceive of just how long it must have taken to produce this level of programming. But then I started playing the game.
No tank
No jumpjet
No parachutes
No heatseaking missiles
No mountain
No bikes (pedal)
No training schools
No countryside
No desert
No hovercraft
No mini games
The list goes on but that's all I can think of right now
What were they thinking?? The beauty of San Andreas for me was that you could sit around with a group of your mates finding all sorts of things to do without ever actually getting any further with the game itself, it was genius!
The new game was a massive upgrade on the graphics front and the story was better but they got rid of everything that made San Andreas unique, they missed out on the opportunity to make the greatest computer game of all time and I think that’s a damn shame.

Re: GTA IV
Gave up on GTA after the third installment. It's lost something but I can't quite put my finger on what.....

Re: GTA IV
WHAT!!!!!! The third instalment was the finest of all GTA titles! San Andreas was the be all and end all of gaming for me, I gave my life to that game and how did it repay me?? With a rubbish follow up
Re: GTA IV
Exactly, third installment was the finest. It could only go downhill from there & most certainly did.

Re: GTA IV
Oh sorry I read that wrong. The things it lost are listed above my friend, they built on that title for the first three installments and then just took it all away from us, it makes no sense to me at all. However it still has one of the most beautiful and detailed maps of any game I have ever seen.
Re: GTA IV
I'll agree with the maps thing! I think They just become overconfident & ended up undoing all of their good work.

Re: GTA IV
God I hope they had enough complaints to repair all that damage before the next one. I'll still but it, as I have done every one til now, but I don't think I'll waste my life completing it unless they've listened to the compliants of their fans.
P.S Just remembered, I spent f**king hours hunting down all those b**tard pigeons to be awarded with nothing more than a well done afterwards! WHERE'S MY GODDAMN TANK YOU UTTER W**KERS??

Re: GTA IV
I won't buy another one. I'm just gonna borrow it off a mate to see if it's any good. If I'm suitably impressed I may consider allowing Rockstar to have my cash (They do still make it right??). Otherwise I'll feed my addiction with other titles..... Just need to finish Fallout then I can start on InFamous!

Re: GTA IV
Proper old fashioned button smasher with a few sophisticated additions, I’m going round to a mates house to try out the full game tonight, I’ll give you a full review tomorrow.
I take it you haven’t rented COD yet?

Re: GTA IV
Nah, not yet. Was gonna get it yesterday but by the time I was able to get to Blockbusters it was closed. May have to wait for the weekend or get someone to grab it for me.
Be sure to give me a full review of Batman! It's game shopping next week & I need to prioritise my list.

Re: GTA IV
Nope, they are the worst people to ask! Besides it’s just occurred to me that you are a bit of a football fan, there’s no way we could share the same DNA if that’s the case.
Re: GTA IV
That's only because everyone around me were football fans when I was growing up. If they'd have been rugby fans I'd probably like that instead.

Re: GTA IV
I begged my parents to get me a sax & lessons when I was younger! They got me a bloody keyboard instead. I'll never forget my mother's words when I said "This isn't a sax!" She said, "No, but you can make it sound like one!"
Damn parental logic!

Re: GTA IV
I was pretty lucky with my folks, I came home from school one day and said I wanted to play the sax. The next day my dad went out and pawned his guitar to buy me one! I managed to but him a replacement with the money I earned from gigs within three years though but I never forgot the amount of faith he put in me.
