Fallout 4

Post by Frog on 10th July 2016, 9:58 am

Not sure if anyone will get to see this but I t seemed fitting to start a thread of the latest instalment of the Fallout franchise right here where I first learned of Fallout 3.
I have now beaten the game and done all four endings, i can't say for sure which I liked the most but I did enjoy them all in their own ways.

I'm so glad I didn't post spoilers! Shocked

How are you finding it?

I love the fact that you can run at last!! There Is a lot that I don't like about it but generally I was pleased with it.
I would like to be able to resolve a situation with a gun fight every now and then Razz

Re: Fallout 4

Post by Bones on 14th July 2016, 6:23 pm

I think it's epic!!! I just wish they had added the ammo crafting from New Vegas. Such an unbelievable oversight when you consider the rest of the game. As I said before, many of the mods available for it just enhance the game further & add some of the things you've wished for. Like these:

1) "Scrap everything Mod". Ever been building at one of your settlements and thought "Why can't I get rid of this damn bush!!" Or "Why can't I pick up the trash??" With this mod those worries are a thing of the past. Scrap the bush & get wood (Easy now.....). Scrap the trash and make things look clean. Got attacked by ghouls and don't want their dead bodies ruining the views of your real estate? Scrap em!!

2) Beast Master - Ever thought to yourself, "Hey, wouldn't it be soooo cool to have a Deathclaw as a companion?" Well, now it is! I call mine Warlord! A Mythic Deathclaw at lvl 120. Going into raider camps has never been so much fun!! Maybe you want a mirelurk as a companion... or a Yao Guai... And you can even repaint some of your new companions, plus give them saddle bags! And you can take them along with you whilst you have a different companion!! that's right. Three companions and more! you know you want it!

3) True Storms - It does what it says on the tin and really doesn't disappoint. Storms become truly epic! Check this review: http://www.techtimes.com/articles/119075/20151223/extreme-weather-mod-is-the-most-popular-fallout-4-add-on-yet.htm

4) Snap & Build - Oh Wow! What a mod. Ever wanted to build a proper house in Fallout 4? Ever thought that the fallout 4 settlement building was a little clunky and fiddly? Well now it's less clunky and even more fiddly...... Wait.... Snap and build is a wonderful mod which allows you the freedom to build actual proper houses, bunkers, greenhouses and more. It really expands the settlement building options and things just snap into place.... but.. you've got to be at the right angle for it to snap into place. If you don't mind it being a little rage inducing.

There are loads more too! From things like introducing seasons right the way to growing cannabis to get high in the commonwealth. I don't know how I would get by without all of these. have a look and see how many might be downloadable on console.

When it comes to factions my heart is kinda with the Institute but overall I think it's the Minutemen who win the day. They just seem more neutral.

Preston & I don't talk much these days. I think I got on his nerves a little after I rejected his advances. Soon as I got access to the artillery I had no further interest in him really, and once I maxed out my affinity with him he stopped giving me radiant minuteman quests  bet he's a 60 second man......

Maybe I should just screw him and get the tension out of the way then? Then perhaps I can station him at some remote outpost and never visit Laughing

Maybe. Once you gain his perk I would do exactly that. I sent him back to Sanctuary as I rarely visit there these days.

To be honest I got a lot more fun out of a good old fashioned sniper than anything else. I found a legendary one that had an unlimited clip and upgraded the crap out of it.
How about you?

I love the Plasma weapons still. The plasma sniper rifle is my go to weapon. I tend to use the Automatic plasma rifle for closer combat. And and Knife for real close combat. But a kneecapper gattling laser for tougher foes.

If you can find the Legendary "Kneecapper" Gattling Laser then it makes the game a bit easier. The "Kneecapper" prefix does exactly as you would expect, it gives you a decent chance of crippling the legs of any enemy you use it against. Mirelurk Queen, Super mutant Behemoth, Mythic Deathclaw, Albino Hermitt Crab....Shocked affraid (Yeah....), Glowing Fog Crawlers... just about all big enemies become less problematic once their legs are crippled and they can't move.....

As for Far Harbour, worth it, but then I got the season pass at the reduced price. Gives you quite a bit extra to do. Unlike "Automatron" the story line will give you more than just a couple of hours of extra game time. Let me know how you get on with it....

Love taking Le Fusille Terrible for some close up head rearrangement

I went for the season pass too, I just got sidetracked by other games for a while and have only just returned to it now.

Liking Far Harbour so far, just found acadia and I'm off to Dima's terminal to investigate his memories.

What kind of upgrade do you tend to have on your armour? I like the medic upgrade but it does feel a bit like a cheat code Laughing

Yeah, far habour is good. A bit more challenging with enemies too.

On my power armour? Jet Pack. Always the jet pack. It's beyond helpful

Ok so it turns out I haven't upgraded the armoured perk enough for jet pack. Back I go to Preton Garvey thinking that he can be my companion and come on his own missions with me.
Small problem, he'll give me missions but as I destroyed the institute and everyone in it he will not be my friend anymore!! That guys is so judgemental!! Just because I slaughtered a few thousand innocent people I'm not good enough for him anymore!

Upgraded a plasma rifle and I have to say I'm enjoying it, it does make short work of most enemies. Still switching back to my good old sniper for stealth work and that glorious Fusille for close quarters.

Which companion do you tend to favour on this one?

Yeah, Preston is insanely annoying. I only used him for his perk and that was it. My companion of choice?? Hmm.... With the exception of the beast master mod, I'd have to go with either Strong, Cait or Curie..... Curie actually. Just remembered how annoying Cait gets once you do her personal quest & strong dislikes EVERYTHING!!!!

I wish they made a plasma gattling gun.......

Ah..... Yeah.... I kinda don't really search much for junk anymore Embarassed Console commands make that an optional extra on PC... When I need aluminium, or any building materials, I just send myself a few hundred shipments..... Embarassed it's not cheating if they've built the feature into the game already.

Shocked you do what?? Shocked you just give yourself stuff?? Shocked that's the whole point of the game isn't it? Hmph

I've had old long fellow on for the ride recently and he is easy to please. I like strong but he lacks a certain finesse from time to time Laughing i haven't really settled on a favourite yet but I do like Curie

I have only played the one character so far, I have invested soooo many hours into him that the thought of restarting makes me feel a little sick....
