E3 (Gaming) 2010 News...... Empty E3 (Gaming) 2010 News......

One of the most expected PC videogames of the year is Civilization V, the turn based strategy title that is being developed under the leadership of Sid Meier at Firaxis and set to be published by Take Two. We already know quite a bit about how the game is being changed when compared to the still excellent Civilization V: Beyond the Sword but it seems the developers are interested in making changes that go well beyond the actual gameplay mechanics.

At the E3 trade show, Firaxis has confirmed that Civilization V itself will become a community hub for gamers, allowing them to interact with other players and friends without actually leaving the game.

Scenarios can easily be shared, scores can be compared, Achievements can be shown off and fan sites can be visited from inside the strategy title, making it easier than ever to get new content and interact with others who are enjoying the same experience. There are also promises that the mod tools linked with Civilization V will be more powerful than ever, allowing gamers to create fresh scenarios and universes that their peers can then experience.

Civilization V aims to design a deeper gaming world the player can explore while leading their civilization and claiming a place in history. The landscapes are more real, the overall enemy civilizations and their leaders have more character and the entire diplomatic model has been reworked. Each Artificial Intelligence controlled leader will have a personality governing how they talk to the player and how they act, City States also appearing in order to allow for quick expansion or for fruitful long term partnerships.

The entire combat model has also been changed in Civilization V, with the introduction of hexes and the limits placed on stacking leading to wars, which feel more tactics-based and more relevant to the development of an empire. Some units can also shoot over enemy lines, chancing the way warfare works in the series.

Konami has announced, at the E3 trade conference, that it plans to create and launch another Silent Hill title in 2011. The game does not have an official title at the moment but the publisher is saying it will be arriving on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

The new game promises to deliver the same horror-oriented action adventure as other iterations in the series, the focus being on developing the strange world of the Silent Hill universe and the deepest fears of the main characters.

The story of the fresh Silent Hill videogame will be centered on a prison inmate by the name of Murphy Pendleton, who is on board of a special transport when it gets off the road and crashes. Pendleton is initially relieved to be free but quickly discovers that the town where he finds himself is more than it seems, with horrific creatures running around and his deepest fears coming to light.

The gameplay will again be built around using the objects in the environment in order to fight back against enemies and complete puzzles. The developers are promising “a dark, thought-provoking storyline which will appeal to fans of the early, classic Silent Hill series.” Konami is also saying that the main storyline will be complemented with side quests that will vary depending on how the gamer handles the game.

Martin Schneider, who is the marketing and public relations director for the European branch of Konami Digital Entertainment, stated, “We are honoring the rich history and strong following of Silent Hill, and working hard to build another unforgettable horror game that the fans truly deserve. Silent Hill introduces an all-new storyline and unique evolutions in gameplay, building on innovations and successes from over a decade of true survival horror and terror.” Shocked Twisted Evil
