Well, so far I've only played a couple of missions as the Alien, but he's a deadly little beast!! With Alien you can walk on any surface which makes sneaking up on grunts kinda straightforward, but the inbuilt A.I has made sure that it's not "Easy" as the grunts rarely walk alone & their firepower is decent enough to mean a few hits will kill you. You must use Aliens greatest strengths to get through. Speed & Stealth. Stealth by cutting power to lights or in some cases taking out the lights themselves. Circle round your enimies, lure one away & strike quickly with deadly precission. When it comes off without you getting caught it is very satisfying Twisted Evil

Can't really go into too much detail as I'm just starting out really. Only downside thus far is the camera can be rather confusing when you go from walking on the floor to walking on the walls to walking on the ceiling & back again confused

I'm gonna try out Predator next.....

The camera angles are often a problem for me in these sorts of games but I don't see how it can be made any easier considering you are viewing your characters entire world on a flat screen thinking

Looks like my Alien missions are done Crying or Very sad So on to Predator! cheers

Predator is much easier to control & much more straightforward than Alien, but then it's something I half expected. Stealth again plays a large part with predator as he's able to become "invisible" to sneak up on his prey and can also use distraction techniques to lure grunts away from the group, making for a kill with less hassle. "Trophy Kills" seem to be the way forward with the big guy and with his love of Skulls combined with my love of Skulls I think we'll be great mates Laughing

Predator downsides so far: thus far there are only 2 visuals which he can utilise. a "normal" view or the "Inferred heat sensor" view. Little disappointed not to see ultra violet & the rest amongst the viewing options. Apart from that life with predator is pretty good at the minute..... Twisted Evil

It's not really the angle that's the problem as you're playing in "First Person". It's more a thing of trying to figure out which way up you currently are as one minute you're on a wall & then quickly go to being on the ceiling, so there's a very quick change to the view. To be honest I blame my brain more than anything else, but I started getting used to it last night................. Just as the missions were finishing Mad Laughing

True, but I am a little disappointed that there wasn't more Alien missions. I feel I had only really scratched the surface.....

Aliens vs Predator Empty Re: Aliens vs Predator

Post by Bones 11th March 2010, 10:54 am

It was all going swimmingly, but the initial excitement & nostalgia wore off and I started to notice the flaws in the game. Here are just a few:

Targeting is pants Mad
Stupidly placed objects stop you from making a clear kill Mad
Predator can jump something like 50 feet in some instances but couldn't hop over a 5 foot wall Mad
Whilst invisible somehow grunts managed to see me & start shooting from what seems like miles away Mad
Storyline has more pooh than Pauls house Mad
Fighting is pretty repetitive Rolling Eyes
Camera work is just not up to scratch Rolling Eyes
Objectives could be clearer Rolling Eyes
The missions are too short Rolling Eyes
And the bastard thing had the cheek to crash on me last night!!! Mad Mad

It's not a terrible game, but there are much stronger shooters of this type around. Nice to have it in the collection, but far from impressed with the actual game itself. It's almost like they've taken three almost good games & tried to shove them into one package to make it a quite good game, but have only managed to make an almost good game with three different stories. Had I paid £15 for it I might've been happy, but I've wasted £39.99 of gift vouchers on this Mad Mad

I praised Sega for having a hand in Bayonetta (pretty good game that!) but I must take that praise away for them going anywhere near this poor imitation of a classic game. Mad Mad

It comes up as Server error if I click the link on your post, but if I click the link on LP's post it comes up fine.

This is because on your post it comes up as: http://www.happyhopper.org/welcome.html[/quote[/url]]

But on LP's post it's: http://www.happyhopper.org/welcome.html

Try it LP
