Prescription Death? Empty Prescription Death?

Post by Bones 21st December 2009, 5:58 pm

Another celebrity is thought to have died due to the use of Prescription Drugs. Brittany Murphy (8 Mile) died yesterday after a heart attack aged a tender 32 (R.I.P). It's thought that she was hooked on prescription drugs & that it was these very drugs, which were meant to help her that caused her heart attack and her untimely death.

It's been said that King of Pop, Michael Jackson, also died due to the use and possible addiction of prescription drugs.

The cured-to-death statistics for their may well stand up to scrutiny but there are other drugs which are far safer to use yet illegal....

These drugs are clearly dangerous and addictive so why are doctors prescribing them to patients in the first place? Is it time that alternative drugs were looked at? Or maybe that prescription drugs and their use are monitored a bit more closely?

Surely all drugs are harmful to some degree, what should change is the way that the patients who have been prescribed dangerous/addictive drugs are monitored.

Do you think it could have something to do with the Pharmaceutical Companies? They make a lot of money out of these drugs. Could it be that profit is more important than the health of prescription drug users?

In my mind the best way to keep earning from these things would be to make them addictive.....
