I would even go as far to say just dogs actually Ty, I was just reading last night about how dogs and humans first became intertwined and no other animal has ever coexisted with humans in such a positive way as the dog. They accept their natural place in the pack and give us their unconditional love (provided that their needs are catered for) research has even shown that by stroking a dog you can lower your heart rate and blood pressure, for you and the dog. Dogs and humans both actually benefit from coexisting, the same cannot be said for any other animals that have been forced to become pets.

Only if you like being taken advantage of Razz Dogs and humans work well together because they have the same pack hierarchy but cats don’t follow this plan. A cat will never remain loyal to you, it will use you for what it desires until either you are no longer able to fulfil its needs or it dies! They are a selfish creature and they insist on CRAPPING IN MY GARDEN!!!!!! I hate the little bastards! To me cats are a worse pest than rats and it’s about time we took control of the crazy numbers roaming our streets.

If your cat poos in my garden I will throw something at it!! Mad

I used to have a couple of cats and I did love them very much, I never saw them as a pest then it’s just since I moved into a suburban area and noticed the difference in the cats there. They have much less respect for other people than they seemed to in the countryside with regard to their ‘droppings’. I put this down to litter trays, my cats never had one and they always buried their mess, the cats that crap in my garden are obviously used to having a human clear up after them. There’s nothing wrong with any animal as a ‘pet’ as long as you’re keeping it in tune with it’s natural instincts, and that is where the problem lies in my opinion.

I hate cats with a passion & would probably skin & stir fry one if I caught it in my house Mad Mad

Dogs I love, but after having been around many different animals I wouldn't go as far as to say that they should be the only pets allowed. Mice, rats, Hamsters etc make surprisingly good pets as do some lizards & amphibians. Not so hot on birds as pets. Putting them in a cage and restricting their flight doesn't seem right to me.

Punishments do seem a little soft for animal cruelty, but to be honest I'm more worried with the soft sentences for child cruelty............

Didn't say it was a trade off, just saying that I'm more concerned with child cruelty than animal cruelty. LP

NO animal is a PEST. Humans ought to accept that they share this planet!!

You’re right Ty, I’ve made the classic mistake of saying that animals should be treated like animals unless it bothers me!

I use the word respect as I can’t think of a better word to describe (to a human) what I mean by the behavioural patterns adopted by suburban cats. The fact that they don’t hide their mess is against their natural instincts and animals on go against their instinct when they have been influenced by humans, so on that basis I don’t think cats make great pets in towns but they are fantastic in the countryside. Ours used to stop the moles from ruining the garden, they’ve both died now and my dads garden looks like the trenches in WW2! But you are again correct that my use of the word respect is just me applying human psycology to an animal.

I should imagine that child cruelty and animal cruelty are monitored and prevented by different organisations so surely this is a moot point Dunno

LP - In a way, yes it is. I originally made it as an ending comment to my original post. It was the only thing from my post which Ty picked up on so I ran with it.

Maybe it's the only thing you felt you could comment on, but to be honest I wasn't expecting any comment for it. Was just doing what you did & giving my view..........

I was serious about the stir fried cat thing too! I hear it's quite tasty cooked right Laughing

Firstly, you DID only reply to one part of my post by your choice, for whatever reason, so no insinuation there, just a fact....

Secondly I didn't suggest that I wanted you to comment on my post. Just said that I didn't expect a response to it, not just from you but from anyone. It's relevance to the discussion is quite clear as had I known you were going to comment on it then I may not have posted it........... Unless of course this was the reaction I was looking for....

Thirdly you said that you chose to comment on it........ It's the first part of that post I was responding to. You chose to comment so you did. I chose to comment about child cruelty, so I did. I shouldn’t question your choice making but you can question mine? scratch scratch

I've said it to you before & I'll say it again, I can't help how you interpret my posts but you should seek clarification on them to avoid confusion. To assume only makes an ASS of U & ME...... :geek: Wink

Firstly: Can you prove that? You did choose to only comment on one part of the post. Please show me where I mentioned whether or not you had read the rest of the post........

Secondly: Whether it's needed or not I still did it. There was no need for you to comment on the child part of my post yet you did...........

Thirdly: I didn't for a second imply that if I don't expect a comment that no one should comment. Again, please show me where I've posted this.

Fourthly: If you insist on making what you refer to as an educated guess then you should expect for your guess to occassionally be wrong. Just because you made a guess doesn't mean that your guess is correct......

Fifth out the hat: If this was court I'd hire a lawyer. A good one too! cheers

LP - Having grown up with women I never expect to win an argument with a female. But then it's no fun when you know you'll win & I've never been a quiter....... Razz

funny old world we live in

That is a wierd one, I would suspect that the gang just wanted a target though and that gave them a convenient excuse Rolling Eyes
