Re: Parenting skills
This is typical lazy parenting imo, the child is healthy so why bother trying to enrich their minds. I have upheld for a long time now that people should earn the right to be a parent because so many parents just can't be bothered to interact with their kids. If you can't take the time to talk to your kids then why have you got them?
Re: Parenting skills
I think it's a case of too many people wanting babies but not children.......

It’s not very nice Ty but I don’t think you could go as far to call it abuse, of course this does depend on your definition of abuse. They’re definitely teaching their children terrible habits and language but that’s not to say they don’t shower them with love most of the time
Re: Parenting skills
I don’t disagree Ty but I just don’t think you can judge the family make up based on one encounter. Parenting isn’t an easy thing to get right and surely you’ll cock it up along the way. Those parents might have got into the car and both apologised for being arseholes. Granted it’s probably not likely but it might have happened.
Re: Parenting skills
It is the curse of every generation to say that about the youth, they used to respect their elders, people cared more etc. It's all relative though surely?
Re: Parenting skills
To your own perspective, I was thinking. Maybe it's like why Wagon Wheels are smaller now than when you were a kid, maybe kids have always been like this but you didn't run into any of them
Re: Parenting skills
Same there, I'm sure parents have been good and bad for as long as they've existed, are you sure that you just don't notice it more these days?
Re: Parenting skills
I think some parents start the whole discipline thing too late.
Think of kids like trees. When a tree is young it's flexible & will grow pretty much anyway you want it to, but once it gets to a certain age you no longer have any choice in how it grows. The only way to change how that tree grows after a certain age is to take a chainsaw to it. So you must bend the tree when it is young.
Same with kids..... Except the chainsaw bit...... you must start teaching them from the moment they are born otherwise it'll be too late......
